I have a roommate who is one of my few friends. Like me he is very religious. But there is a big different between us. He goes to church twice a week, Bible study and Outreach ones a week. I don't go to Church, mostly because i get very bad anxiety plus high BP when leaving the house plus i don't study the Bible. What i do is i pray every night and try to be a good person. In the last 10 years i took like 20 peoples in and let them stay with me till they found a job and a own place to stay. I believe very much in our creator but it looks like being a good person is not enough. I always hear from my roommate i am going to HELL because i am not going to Church. It hurts so much to hear this because i do thing i am a good person. But if you hear this often you start to not believe in your self. Thats why i never talk about my believe because of things like this. I guess i will not be along in this place because there are so many people out there who are like me. I just feel like crying now after Hearing again acording to the Bible i am not good enough.

P.S. For some reason i posted the same entry 3 times and when i deleted two of them ,i deleted the one with all the comments. I wanted to keep your kind comments so i just put them back here from the e-mail.

He may be going to church regularly, but you roommate is a very bad person. God sees what is in your heart. Do not listen to his lies. *hugs*

That's just so wrong, hon. What you're doing - taking people in and helping them - you are truly living the Christian life. Faith without works in nothing. I do understand that it would be hard for you to talk to him if he's your friend - but he needs to stop hurting you. Could your husband maybe talk to him? If he can't behave himself, perhaps he needs to find another place to live.

That is not very christian-like of him.
if he truly believes in what he is telling you then he should also believe he is going to hell for treating people like that.

I'm sorry *huggles*

I think you are a good christian woman.

When it comes down to judgement time.. you who have open your heart, house and love will be greeted with pleasure and satifaction.

Don't let him get you down. *hugs*

Going to church makes you a Christian about as much as being in a garage makes you a car.

I firmly believe it's what you do and how you treat people that matters, not where you say your prayers.

Dear Bettina, I'm so sorry to hear about your mis-guided friend. Hopefully, he'll eventually get to the place in his Bible studies where it says that God has saved us by His grace, not because of our works, be that doing good things or going to church or reading the Bible or whatever. All that is required of us is to believe in Christ. In our hearts, no less, it is not the outword person that matters. The things you do for others out of your good heart are awesome! I hope you feel comforted, strengthened and encouraged by the comments you've received here. Hugs! Mal

I'm glad to hear that he's a nice person otherwise :-) Just please don't believe the Bible says one has to go to church to be saved. It does not.

It always amazes me that people who consider themselves a "Christian" because they go to church and study the bible can exhibit the most unChristianlike behaviour. You, my dear are more of a true Christian than your roommate will ever be. He needs to learn to respect other people's beliefs and that we all choose how to worship and pray in our own way, he sounds like a very pretentious, ignorant prig to me, and you are what a true Christain is, caring and sharing. Please try to ignore him and his ignorance. *hugs*

I believe that is so not true. God judges us on our actions to others, not on how many times we go to church. Church is just a building, an organisation of people worshipping together. It is not God. God is in our hearts and in what we think and do, not in the walls of a place. I truely believe that our actions is what matters, not where we pray. After all, when Jesus was here, he didn't have churches. He talked to people outdoors in nature, surrounded by gods creations. If praying in a building was so important, he would have built one. Churches are just organisations and I believe most are so currupt and self serving now that sitting in a garden and praying would be a far better way to worship god.

Hey Love, I am so sorry to hear that!! :( I really do know what you mean! I think you really are one of the sweetest people out there! You are always doing things for others, on LJ as well when you make the avs! That in itself is very kind of you! XD You know, I personally think the way you handle yourself is very classy, being a kind person and treating others well no matter whether you make it to church or not and not having to go trumpet your devoutness to other people. Very cool! XD

When I was in college, I knew many people who would party it up on Saturday night, get wasted, sleep around, not really giving or anything, and they would then show up to church on Sunday morning... but does this make them devout? I think that you are really doing just fine! Plus, it really isn't that classy to tell people they are going to Hell, is it?

Granted, these are all my opinions but I think that you are doing the best you can, really and if it is stressful for you to be in certain situations with a lot of people then you shouldn't have to be. There are people who are privately religious and that is very okay! Our creator knows your mind and I know that He/She/It knows that you care! *big huggles!!!*

First of all, BIG HUGS.

I've liked the story of Jerome K. Jerome, i can't remember the title for sure... Maybe "Anthony John". Well, the main hero, a boy, had an aunt and an uncle. His uncle was the kindest person in the world, but he didn't go to church. Aunt always went to church, read bible and so on, and she always told her husband(boy's uncle): "If you don't become a baptized, or you will go to hell!"
Once the boy asked his uncle, why won't he go to church, and the uncle answered: "If people did the things that God actually told them to do, the world would be very different. And he didn't ask much: don't kill, don't steal and treat the people the same way you want be treated" ("Do as you would be done by" - i am sorry, English is not my native and i am not sure when i translate something).

And one more thing. I don't know you personally, but i know that you have got a pure soul. You are one of the kindest persons i know:)

And i am sure that your Guardian Angel is proud of you:)

Oh Sweeety, I'm sorry that your room-mate showed no compassion. Jesus comes as gentle as a dove. When I was growing up I had family members who loved to tell me that the devil was out to get me. Literly scared the hell outt me and Thank God for my Uncle Walter he was a preacher he was such a comfort to me. This is what I believe, The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit. John 3:16 is a very popular verse, but so very true. He does love you so very much, so much more that our hearts could ever possibly imagine. There is JOhn 14:6-7. I don't go to church, but that doesn't mean that I'm not a Christian, which I am. My brother did invite me to church this Sunday, so hopefully we're still on for it. I want to add that God is the Bible, the Living Word of God. Please know he loves you and I love you. (((hugs)))

Honey, your one of the kindest people I know. Please don't listen to that. Your not going to hell because, you don't go to church. You have God in your heart and you pray and believe.
*Hugs tight*
