In my experience, the churchgoers always seem to be worse than the ones who don't go to church. And, according to most religions (and my mother), I'm going to hell too.

I think I would rather be a "spiritual" person and do what I feel is right, than to go to church. Your roommate doesn't sound like a very Christian person at all. Sounds like its time for him to move on.
