Please, don't take this the wrong way, and I really don't mean it like that, but seriously, most of the stuff written in the Bible is archaic and so very much written through the lens of people who lived there (a very tiny tribe surrounded by badass huge kingdoms that tried to butcher 'em up from all sides). Whether the message from god is there or not, I'm not getting into that discussion (each of us has the right to our own belief), but when I hear people yap about how you're gonna go to hell because you're not abiding to millennia old rules that MADE SENSE THEN... why are you using a computer then, seriously?!
*glomps again*
Please don't let this person's hatred get to you. Ever heard of that little thing that half the Bible was based on - love?
Also... even though this article is written by an atheist, I think the message is gorgeous and should be applied to anyone, regardless, no?
I always come back to reread this little paragraph, 'cause it's so beautifully showing who humans really are, and what we should all strive to be:
If I’m trapped in a foxhole—or a shower, slumber party, or abandoned farmhouse—give me someone who celebrates the human capacity for understanding and choosing what’s right, rather than someone who needs to be told what’s right, and then chooses it to avoid punishment.
